NEC Offers Engineering Education Opportunities for Students from Public Schools
Kathmandu – Nepal Engineering College (NEC) has announced a Community Scholarship Program for the academic session 2082/83. For the first time, a separate community scholarship will be provided targeting underprivileged students who studied in government public schools. Additionally, the college has stated that it will offer full scholarships to seven students—one from each of the seven provinces.
According to the college administration, one meritorious student from each province selected under the Provincial Scholarship will receive a 100% tuition fee waiver. Priority will be given to students who have achieved high marks in SEE and +2, are economically disadvantaged, and have a strong interest in engineering studies.
Similarly, under the Community Scholarship, students who have passed +2 from government public schools will also be eligible for full or partial tuition waivers. This program aims to increase access to engineering education for students from rural and marginalized communities.
Rupesh Dahi Shrestha, coordinator of the College Admission Committee 2025, stated that the provincial and community scholarships are an integral part of the college's inclusive policy and social responsibility. “This initiative supports national inclusiveness and the promotion of equal opportunities,” he said.
Applicants are requested to contact the college as soon as possible. The names of selected students will be published promptly. Necessary documents, forms, and details can be obtained from the NEC college website or the administrative office.
Principal Durgaprasad Bhandari explained that the college, operating on a non-profit basis, has been offering various scholarships with the goal of producing as many engineers as possible for the country.
