Global Math Debate League Announces Nationwide Regional Rounds Across Nepal

Kathmandu – The Global Math Debate League (GMDL), Nepal's premier platform combining mathematical reasoning with critical thinking and debate, today announced its nationwide schedule for the 2026 Regional and National Rounds. Designed to foster analytical depth, articulation, and collaborative problem-solving among school students, GMDL is rapidly establishing itself as a benchmark academic competition in the country.

The Regional Rounds will be conducted across five major hubs throughout February 2026, engaging schools from diverse regions. The Jhapa Regional Round will be held on February 4 and 5, followed by the Chitwan Regional Round on February 7 and 8. 

The Butwal-Bhairahawa Regional Round is scheduled for February 10 and 11, while the Pokhara Regional Round will take place on February 13 and 14. The series concludes with the Kathmandu Regional Round on February 16 and 17.

Following the regional competitions, the National Round will be held in Kathmandu on February 21 and 22, 2026, bringing together top-performing teams from across the country.

Speaking about this event, the co-founder of GMDL Divesh Bathija said, "The Global Math Debate League is transforming mathematics from a subject students memorize into one they debate, reason through, and apply to real-world challenges. With five regional hubs and strong partnerships across Nepal, we're building a generation of critical thinkers ready to compete on the global stage."

This year's league is strengthened through strategic academic and institutional partnerships. Britannica Inc., a globally recognized authority in knowledge and learning resources, joins GMDL as its Research and Skill Tech Partner, reinforcing the league's commitment to rigorous research, credible content, and future-ready skills.Along with this, Educase and the Lab of Future, Dubai, are contributing to the league's success by lending their support and expertise through valuable sponsorship. 

Regional collaborations further enhance the league's reach. Aastha College serves as the Jhapa Regional co-organizing partner, while the Butwal-Bhairahawa Regional Round is co-organized in partnership with Lumbini World School. In Pokhara, Kumudini Homes School joins as the co-organizing partner, supporting the league's outreach in Gandaki Province.

As the Food Delivery Partner, Foodmandu will handle catering logistics, ensuring participants and staff are well-supported throughout the intensive competition days, while TBG Nepal (The Beyond Group Nepal) supports the initiative as a Fraction Sponsor, demonstrating corporate commitment to educational excellence and youth development in Nepal.

With participation from schools nationwide and a strong ecosystem of partners, the Global Math Debate League continues to redefine how mathematics is perceived, transforming it from a subject of rote learning into a dynamic platform for debate, reasoning, and real-world application.

The 2026 edition of GMDL represents a pivotal moment in Nepal's academic landscape, encouraging  students to engage with mathematics as critical thinkers and skilled debaters.
