Morning Rally in Biratnagar on World Radiography Day
Biratnagar - On the occasion of World Radiography Day and International Radiology Day, the Nepal Radiography Society, Koshi, organized a morning rally program in Biratnagar.
This day is celebrated every year on November 8th across the globe with the objective of spreading awareness about radiography and radiation therapy.
This year, the 130th World Radiography Day and International Radiology Day were celebrated under the main theme: "Empowering Healthcare through Imaging Excellence."
The morning rally, which commenced from Shaheed Rangashala (Martyr's Stadium) in Biratnagar, concluded back at Shaheed Rangashala after passing through Hospital Chowk, Jaljala Chowk, Purano DSP Office, and Golchha Chowk.
The program witnessed significant participation from representatives of various health-related organizations, healthcare workers, and students.
The German scientist Wilhelm Röntgen discovered X-rays (radiography) on November 8, 1895. This day is celebrated globally every year in honor of his invention.
X-ray technology helps obtain information about the condition of bones and other structures inside the human body.
Similarly, technologies like Ultrasound, CT Scan, and MRI can diagnose the condition of internal organs without the need for surgery.
'Diagnostic Radiology' and 'Interventional Radiology' play a crucial role in identifying and treating diseases through radiology. While radiation is used in tests like X-ray, CT Scan, Fluoroscopy, Nuclear Medicine, and Mammography, tests such as Ultrasound and MRI are radiation-free technologies.
According to officials of the Nepal Radiography Society, the day is expected to raise public awareness about the importance of radiography technology and inspire efforts to enhance the access and quality of imaging services in the health sector.
