“Malashree Dhoon” Released by Music Nepal for Dashain

Kathmandu – Music Nepal has officially premiered the traditional “Malashree Dhoon”, one of the most iconic festive tunes of Dashain, on its YouTube channel. The release comes with a grand collaboration of celebrated musicians and flutists from across Nepal.

The concept of the musical arrangement was developed by Maestro Jeevan Ale, with Phanindra Rai as the arranger. Instrumental highlights include guitar and lead by Vikram Karki, bass guitar by Balkrishna Sewacharya, pakhawaj and tabla by Milesh Tandukar, and tanpura by Gita Rai.

The recording was handled by Suman Khadka (Studio Purple), along with Chandra Prakash Kharel, Rajay Gurung, and Nakul Karki, while mixing and mastering was completed by Khadka.

The project brought together an exceptional lineup of over 60 flutists, including Maestro Jeevan Ale, Jiwan Bista, Buddha Lama, Dhan Bahadur Gurung, Rabindra Maharjan, Prem Waiwa, and many more. Their collective participation aimed to revive and highlight the cultural and spiritual significance of the Dashain melody.

On the visual side, the video was directed by Dev Jung Thapa with co-direction from Naren Moktan. Cinematography was done by Sushil Budhathoki, and editing/coloring was completed at EC Studio, Anamnagar, Kathmandu. The production team also included bus and logistics management by Ramesh Magar, lighting by Harka Pahari and team, and makeup by Shresti Thapa Magar.

Premiered just 22 hours ago, the video has already garnered over 6,800 views, reaffirming the enduring cultural appeal of the Malashree Dhoon during Nepal’s biggest festival.
