Introducing Kungchido in Schools and Colleges: Free Martial Arts Classes to Build Discipline, Reduce Crime, and Strengthen Students

Founded by Grandmaster / Dr. Saroj Joshi, Kungchido is more than a martial art—it is a disciplined, values-based system rooted in history, culture, and human development. It equips students with practical skills in self-discipline, emotional regulation, and resilience, while preserving Nepal’s ancient martial arts heritage.

Dr. Saroj Joshi has published two award-winning books on Kungchido, freely distributing them to anyone who reaches out. He has been teaching Martial Arts/Kungchido for over four decades now wants to expand free classes supported by government programs or funded by charity organizations, sharing knowledge openly with all who wish to learn. Kungchido is also dedicated to children with disabilities worldwide, including  like Suzanne Joshi and others.

Integrating Kungchido into educational programs offers a research-backed approach to reduce conflict, strengthen emotional resilience, and cultivate character among students.

Historical and Cultural Foundation

Grandmaster / Dr. Saroj Joshi has presented compelling evidence that martial arts originated in Lumbini, Nepal, where early forms of meditative combat and disciplined practices began before spreading to India, China, and other regions.

Kungchido, therefore, is not only a modern discipline but also a guardian of Nepal’s ancient contribution to global martial arts history.

Conclusion

Kungchido—deeply rooted in the ancient history of Lumbini, strengthened by global collaboration, and dedicated to children with disabilities—offers Nepal a unique opportunity to cultivate discipline, emotional strength, and safer learning environments.

We propose making Kungchido a mandatory 0.8-credit course in all schools and colleges in Nepal, from middle school through PhD programs. To ensure accessibility for all students, Grandmaster / Dr. Saroj Joshi will provide remote tele-work classes, so every student can complete the required credit regardless of location.

By combining Nepal’s heritage, international expertise, and modern character training, Kungchido will help build a safer, stronger, and more confident generation.
