Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah Urges Gen Z to Remain Calm After PM’s Resignation
Kathmandu, Sept 9: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah has issued an appeal to the youth following the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
In a Facebook post, Shah made it clear that the ongoing movement was entirely led by Gen Z. Addressing the protesters, he wrote, “Dear Gen Z, the resignation of your killer has already come. Now, please remain calm.”
He further cautioned that the destruction of public property ultimately harms citizens themselves, emphasizing, “The loss of national wealth is our own loss. It is now necessary for all of us to remain restrained.”
Mayor Shah also encouraged the younger generation to prepare for future leadership of the nation. “Your generation must take the leadership of this country. Be ready,” he said.
At the same time, Shah suggested that dialogue with the Chief of Army Staff might be necessary but stressed a condition: “Remember—before any dialogue, the Parliament must be dissolved.”
