Increase in Voter Registration Ahead of Elections in Ghorahi, Dang

Ghorahi (Dang), 7 October: A surge of people registering in the voter list has been observed here. Following the government’s issuance of new rules regarding voters, the number of people coming to register their names in the voter list has started increasing, informed Gahendra Kunwar, Information Officer at the Lumbini Province Election Office in Ghorahi.

The office reported that 133 new voters were added—two days before Dashain and on Monday, the first day. Additionally, 163 people have filled out advance forms to register in the new voter list, with biometric verification still pending, according to the office.

Kunwar stated that increasing voter registration at the municipal level could significantly raise the number of new voters in the district.

Due to demands for voter registration at the municipal level, 54,000 new voters were added in Dang during the 2022 elections. In the 2022 election, the total number of voters were 414,956, with 134,733 in Dang Constituency No. 1, 133,748 in Constituency No. 2, and 146,475 in Constituency No. 3.
