Government is Seriously Committed to Preserving Indigenous Traditions like Bolbam: Minister Pradeep Yadav

Kathmandu, August 4 – Minister for Drinking Water Pradeep Yadav has said that the government is seriously committed to preserving indigenous traditions such as Bolbam.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 29th Shrawan Mela and Bolbam Kanwar Yatra organized by the Bolbam Kanwaria Association in Okhreni, Ward No. 1 of Gokarneshwar Municipality, Kathmandu, Minister Yadav stated that the Bolbam tradition reflects Nepal’s cultural unity and religious faith.

“Bolbam culture unites society and strengthens religious and cultural consciousness,” he said. “The government is firmly committed to protecting such indigenous traditions.”

Addressing the same program, Minister Yadav emphasized that the protection and promotion of religious, cultural, and touristic heritage like Bolbam is a shared responsibility of all levels and sectors.

He expressed his belief that such events, which help disseminate religious, cultural, and social awareness, further strengthen national identity. He said, “The greatest symbol of Hindu religious belief is Lord Pashupatinath, who resides in Nepal. Bolbam Kanwar pilgrims offer water to Pashupatinath and thereby protect Hinduism.”

Minister Yadav also assured that he would coordinate with the Executive Members of the Pashupati Area Development Trust, officials, and the Minister for Tourism to open one of the gates at Pashupatinath Temple on Mondays so that Bolbam Kanwar pilgrims can offer water smoothly.

He further urged the mayor of Gokarneshwar Municipality to provide necessary land for the Bolbam Kanwaria Association to conduct worship and rituals.

Minister Yadav remarked that the special worship and spiritual practices carried out by Kanwar devotees at various Shiva temples across Nepal during the holy month of Shrawan have made an invaluable contribution to the enrichment and continuity of Nepal’s indigenous traditions.
