'Gen-Z Tihar' Carries the Rage of the Gen-Z Movement and the Wailing of Parents (Video)
Kathmandu. A new type of music video has been released targeting the auspicious festival of Deepawali – 2082. The song specifically addresses the protests held by the Gen-Z generation on September 8th and 9th (Bhadra 23 and 24) and the state suppression that followed.
The lyrics, prepared by Tulsi Baskota and Sajina Lamichhane, have been set to music by Baskota himself and film director R.B. Khatri Sharad. Rajiv Shah handled the music arrangement, recording, and mastering. The song features vocals from R.B. Khatri Sharad, Shraddha Diyali, Ramesh Mainali, Rajiv Shah, and Nirmala Karki.
The video stars R.B. Khatri Sharad, Lakshminath Timilsina, Sarita Bhandari, Sajina Lamichhane, Ramesh Mainali, Shiva Mainali, Raj Dhami, Laxmi Joshi, Piya Karki, Parbati Adhikari Bhattarai, Shrida Chhetri, Bindu Shrestha, Teji Kunwar, Sapana Devkota, Anil Rai, Geeta Oli, Sujita Khatri, and Laxmi Siwakoti, among other artists.
Dinesh Limbu is the choreographer, R.B. Khatri Sharad is the director, Raj Pokhrel is the cinematographer, and Raj Dhami is the editor. The song expresses the rage over the country's dire situation fueled by rampant corruption and conventional politics, which has incited the Gen-Z generation.
It also depicts the tragic state of a mother who goes into shock upon hearing the news that her son, who left home believing the country would improve, was killed by state suppression. The video has been made public on the Aadi Shakti Official YouTube channel.
