Film 'Captain Saab' to Be Made on the Biography of Captain Rameshwar Thapa

Kathmandu – The official announcement (Muhurat) of the film Captain Saab has been made. The ceremony took place on Thursday at Gaurighat, Kathmandu.Directed by Dipendra K. Khanal, Captain Saab is based on the biography of Captain Rameshwar Thapa. In addition to being a pilot, Rameshwar is also a businessman and media entrepreneur.

At the Muhurat shot of Captain Saab, businessman Dr. Upendra Mahato, Kalyap, and Captain Thapa jointly initiated the shooting.This is the second production by Patkatha Production. The film features actor Khagendra Lamichhane, actress Surakshya Panta, and Sanjog Rasaily in lead roles. Previously, director Dipendra had cast Khagendra and Surakshya in lead roles in the film Dhanapati. This is the first time all three – Khagendra, Surakshya, and Sanjog – are working together in the same film. However, Dipendra and Khagendra have collaborated on several projects before.

The cinematographer for the film is Krishna Bahadur Thapa, and the shooting will take place in various locations in Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Kavre. The filming is scheduled to begin in the first week of Bhadra (August/September). "Captain Saab will be a unique kind of film. We will take creative liberty with the highs and lows of Captain Rameshwar Thapa’s life to make it a fully entertaining movie," said director Khanal. "From the challenges faced in the skies, the respect received at the local level, to the various types of people he meets in business – we believe this film will be exceptional."

Along with Yarsa Studio, Rich Entertainment is also associated with this project. The producers include director Dipendra K. Khanal himself, Karan Shrestha, and Srishtima Khanal. The executive producer is Sirjana Napit.

The film, written by Dipendra K. Khanal, has Saugat Basnet as the chief assistant director. Bhimsen Shahi (Royal Bhimsen) is responsible for poster and publicity design (Trident Concept), Aki Thekpa is the production designer, and Rohit Raj Gautam and Bishnu Mainali are the production managers.
