One Dead, One Injured in Fast Track Bridge Construction Accident
Hetauda. One person has died and another has been injured in a tuchen machine accident at Bridge No. 1 under the under-construction Kathmandu-Terai/Madhesh Fast Track located in Chhokredanda, Mahadebtar of Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-8, Makwanpur.
According to DIG Pushkar Bauti of the District Police Office Makwanpur, the accident occurred around 6 PM on Tuesday when the brake of the tuchen machine suddenly failed while ascending after finishing digging work, causing it to fall approximately 21 meters.
He stated that 29-year-old Arjun Thing, a resident of Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality-5, Sindhupalchok district, died on the spot in the accident. Similarly, 37-year-old Julfey Tamang, a resident of Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality-6 working inside the pit, was injured when the falling tuchen machine struck him, DIG Bauti informed. Tamang was immediately rescued and sent to Kathmandu for treatment, and his condition is reported to be moderate.
Upon receiving news of the incident, a police team led by Police Sub-Inspector Rajan Thapa from the Area Police Office Thingan reached the site and secured the area. DIG Bauti mentioned that the incident site has been kept secure and further investigation will proceed after completing the legal formalities.
