Face of SY 2082: Winner, Prizes, Process, and Organizer
Kathmandu. Malaisa Acharya has been selected as the Face of SY 2082 (Brand Ambassador Hunt) organized by SY Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. The grand finale, sponsored by SY Panel, SY Cosmetic, SY Bazaar, and SY UPVC, was held on Friday at the Everest Hotel in Baneshwor, the capital. With a total prize pool of over 20 million rupees, this has become Nepal's first large-scale brand ambassador hunt.
Bimal Raj Gosai, Director of SY Panel Nepal, stated that while Miss Nepal, often considered to have the highest prize money in Nepal, offers prizes around 2 to 2.5 million rupees, their competition provided a total of over 20 million rupees.
He claimed this is a pioneering step in Nepal, aimed at identifying hidden talent in villages across the country and making common people brand ambassadors rather than established celebrities. He further asserted that this is the first major hunt in Nepal to arrange prizes worth 20 million rupees.
The program's purpose was to select the company's brand ambassadors. Three main brand ambassadors were chosen through the competition. Chhedog Il, Managing Director (MD) of SY Group Nepal, distributed the prizes to all selected winners. Under this scheme, both men and women had the opportunity to participate and be selected.
The program was conducted in phases. The first phase ran from June 1 to September 30. To participate in the first phase, one had to create a video based on the SY theme. Five hundred excellent participants were selected from the first phase. All 500 selected individuals were provided with SY Bazaar shopping vouchers worth 2,000 rupees so that no one left empty-handed.
From the first phase, the top 150 successful participants moved to the second phase. Among them, the top 50 were provided with SY Bazaar shopping vouchers worth 10,000 rupees.
The top 25 selected from the second phase proceeded to the final. The final audition was held yesterday in Kathmandu.
The final 25 selected participants were also provided with training. Tests were conducted in various stages. The program was structured such that the title winner "Face of SY" would be chosen from the 25 finalists appearing on the stage. Following that, the first runner-up and second runner-up were selected. Accordingly, Sara Lama was selected as the first runner-up and Api Yonjan as the second runner-up.
From the program, the title winner received a cash prize of 500,000 rupees and a one-year contract worth 10 million rupees. Terms and conditions will apply to this. The amount was provided after tax deduction.
The first runner-up was awarded a cash prize of 400,000 rupees. A contract worth 5 million rupees will be signed with her. The second runner-up received 300,000 rupees in cash and will have a contract worth 3 million rupees.
Afterward, the remaining top seven individuals were given Popularity Awards. They will be given 150,000 rupees each. In this regard, the total expenditure for prizes alone in this competition has exceeded 20 million rupees.
The criteria for evaluating the participants were designed to be diverse. In the first phase, the basis for evaluation was 10% for likes, 20% for comments, 20% for shares, and 50% for creativity.
In the second phase, the weight for likes and comments remained the same, while the jury (guests) provided 50% of the marks. For the final stage, the evaluation was based on 30% from SNS (Social Networking Services) and 70% from the judges.
The first and second phases were conducted as digital auditions through videos. The final phase was held through a physical (in-person) audition.
The competition allowed men and women of any age group to participate. To participate, they had to follow SY Bazaar and SY Cosmetic on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Then, those wishing to participate had to create creative video content reflecting any of the companies—SY Panel, SY Bazaar, or SY Cosmetic. This could be posted on any of their social media accounts.
While posting the video, participants were required to mention SY Bazaar Nepal and SY Cosmetic Nepal and use the hashtag #FaceOfSY. Those wishing to participate had to go to the bio of the SY Cosmetic and SY Bazaar pages with their video link, fill out a Google form, and register according to the instructions.
The organizer, SY Group of Companies, is a multinational company based in South Korea. Under this company, SY Panel Nepal, SY Bazaar, and SY Enterprises are operating in Nepal.
