Government to Enhance Ward-Level Coordination for Fair Elections
Kathmandu. Home Minister Omprakash Aryal has held discussions with officials from the Municipal Association of Nepal, the National Association of Rural Municipalities in Nepal, and the Federation of District Coordination Committees of Nepal regarding peace and security, elections, and contemporary issues.
During the discussion, Home Minister Aryal stated that the ministry will ensure there are no shortcomings in maintaining peace and order to conduct the upcoming House of Representatives elections in a clean, fair, and fearless environment.
Additionally, he praised the coordinated role of the umbrella organizations of the local levels. Minister Aryal remarked that local representatives are the guardians of the local level and emphasized that the ministry is moving forward by giving importance to coordination with local officials.
Similarly, the heads and officials of the local level umbrella organizations stated that they are playing a coordinated role from their respective positions to complete the election in a clean, fair, and fearless environment.
On January 29, the Ministry of Home Affairs prepared the ‘Concept on Enhancing Coordination and Collaboration up to the Ward Level for Systematic Election Management, 2082 B.S’ and corresponded with all District Administration Offices to act accordingly.
The concept aims to involve political figures, officials, and intellectuals at the ward level in election management and other tasks to increase their ownership and ensure the election is held in a free, fair, and fearless environment.
The discussion was attended by Home Secretary Rajkumar Shrestha, Chief Investigation Director Tekendra Karki, President of the Municipal Association of Nepal Bhim Prasad Dhungana, President of the National Association of Rural Municipalities in Nepal Laxmi Devi Pandey, Executive Director of the Federation of District Coordination Committees Bharat Kumar Bhattarai, Chief of the Security and Coordination Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs Ananda Kafle, and other ministry officials.
