Sunita Dangol Advocates Home-Based Health Services for Elderly
Kathmandu – Sunita Dangol, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has emphasized the need to effectively expand services targeted at senior citizens. Speaking at the 47th municipal executive meeting on Friday, she said that alongside pension distribution, basic health services could be provided to senior citizens directly at their homes in a more organized manner.
She stated, “Regarding pensions, we have already started providing basic health services at home for parents aged 70 and above. In this process, this work can be further organized and advanced effectively.”
According to her, various wards of the metropolitan city have already begun the practice of delivering services directly to homes. For those who cannot visit the wards, many wards are providing home-based services. For example, 17 wards have already implemented this service,” she mentioned.
Dangol urged the remaining wards to discuss with their teams and relevant stakeholders to expand such services. She said the metropolitan city is running programs with the goal of providing senior citizens with easy, respectful, and accessible services.
