Embark UnMath’s special corporate screening of Paran: How does mathematics apply in films?
Kathmandu: From everyday decisions to world-changing scientific discoveries, the influence of mathematics can be found everywhere. With the aim of helping people understand this reality in a practical way, Embark UnMath organized a special corporate screening of the Nepali film Paran.
The event brought together nearly 200 individuals, including teachers and parents at Chhaya Center, Thamel, Kathmandu, for a collective viewing experience that bridged cinema and mathematical thinking.
Continuing its mission to demonstrate that mathematics is not confined to formulas in textbooks but is deeply connected to life and creative industries, Embark UnMath showed Paran to further clarify how mathematical concepts operate in creative industries and real-world scenarios.
The film, which has recently garnered widespread attention both in Nepal and internationally, has resonated with audiences through its compelling storytelling, emotional resonance, and social commentary.
According to organizers, the screening successfully illustrated how mathematical thinking influences creativity, script structure, cinematography, time management, and even audience psychology.
Following the screening, Embark UnMath co-founder Divesh Bathija said, “Mathematics touches every aspect of life. Even in filmmaking, elements such as structural thinking, organization, probability, pacing, proportion, storytelling, and audience behavior analysis are deeply connected with mathematics.
Paran demonstrates the thoughtful use of these elements, which makes the film even more impactful.” He added that Embark UnMath is continuously working to help people understand mathematics not as something to fear, but as a useful life skill.
