Eighth Anniversary of Bhimsen Idol to Be Celebrated Grandly

Lalitpur, July 23
The eighth anniversary of Bhindyo, possibly the tallest idol of the deity Bhimsen in the world, will be celebrated with grand festivities in Sunakothi, Lalitpur, on Sunday, Bhadra 1.
This event is being organized with the goal of promoting the overall development of the Sunakothi area and establishing Lalitpur as a cultural, religious, and tourist hub.
According to Binod Dangol, president of the Sunakothi Society, the Bhimsen Jatra (festival) organized annually by the society will be continued in the future as well. "We plan to make the festival even more expansive in the coming years," he stated.
The grand idol of Bhimsen was carved with great effort from a single 60-ton boulder brought from a gorge in Machhegaun, according to Dangol.
Preparations for the anniversary celebration are in their final stage, said Rupesh Dangol, a member of the organizing committee and also a singer who has lent his voice to dozens of songs.
The organizers believe that the festival will play a significant role in promoting local culture, art, and religious faith. The celebration will include rituals, cultural programs, a chariot procession, and various other events.
