Distribution of Chickens to Dalit Families in Pokhara-9

Pokhara. With the support of Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 9 and organized by the Ward-Level Dalit Network Pokhara-9, 40 individuals were distributed chicken chicks, feed, and medicine on Sunday.

In the program, Ward Chairman Dipendra Marsani stated that work should be done with visible results and that the program to distribute chicken chicks provided relief to low-income Dalit and marginalized communities, rather than spending money on unnecessary training.

On the occasion, Ward members Gita Charmakar, Nandaram Giri, and Laxmi Pahari, Ward Secretary Kulraj Poudel, Chairman of the Neighborhood Development Organization Coordination Committee Pokhara-9, Uttam Joshi, Chairperson of the Ward Agriculture Network, Bimla Ranabhat, Chairman of Setiganga Neighborhood Development Organization, Roshan Manandhar, and Chairperson of Krishna Neighborhood Development Organization, Rupa KC, among others, said that Ward 9 of Pokhara is encouraging locals to become self-employed.

Last year, the network had also distributed chicken chicks, and Ward Chairman presented a cash prize to Buddhimaya Pariyar for successfully raising and selling those chickens and managing to raise the fourth batch of chicks.

Dalit Network Chairperson Sapana BK stated that while 50 households were distributed 10 chicks each last year, this year, 40 individuals were distributed 12 chicks each.

The program, chaired by Dalit Network Chairperson Sapana BK, featured a welcome speech by Vice-Chairman Rokbir Sunar and was conducted by Bimla Pariyar.
