“Curfew Extended in Kathmandu: Now Covers Sital Niwas, Harit Griha, Narayanhiti and Singha Durbar Areas”
Kathmandu, September 23 – The curfew imposed in the Baneswar area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City remains in effect today from 12:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Chief District Officer Chhabilal Rizal issued the order under Section 6(ka) of the Local Administration Act, 2028, prohibiting movement, gatherings, rallies, protests, assemblies, or meetings during this period.
Previously, the curfew covered areas from Baneshwar Chowk westward to Everest Hotel and Bijulibazar Bridge, eastward to Min Bhawan and Shantinagar up to Three-Cornered Chowk, northward to iPlex Mall and Ratnarajya Secondary School, and southward along Shankhamul slope to Shankhamul Bridge. Now, the curfew has also been extended to Sital Niwas, Harit Griha Lainchaur, the Narayanhiti Palace area, and Singha Durbar.
Following the Chief District Officer’s order, security has been tightened to control the Gen Z-led protests.
