Curfew Imposed in Baneshwor to Control Gen Z Protest
Kathmandu, Bhadra 23 – A curfew has been imposed in the Baneshwor area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City from 12:30 PM to 10:00 PM today to control protests by the Gen Z generation. The order was issued by Chief District Officer Chhabilal Rijal under Section 6(k) of the Local Administration Act, 2028.
During the curfew, no one is allowed to move, gather, hold rallies, protests, meetings, or encircle any area within the designated zones.
Curfew Areas – Baneshwor:
West from Baneshwor Chowk: via Everest Hotel to Bijulibazar Bridge
East from Baneshwor Chowk: via Min Bhawan, Shantinagar to Tinkune Chowk
North from Baneshwor Chowk: via iPlex Mall to Ratnarajya Secondary School
South from Baneshwor Chowk: via Shankhamul slope to Shankhamul Bridge
The Chief District Officer stated that the curfew was imposed after the Gen Z protests escalated beyond control and to strengthen security measures.
