22nd Annual General Meeting of Community Police Service, Bagar

Pokhara — The 22nd Annual General Meeting of the Community Service Center and Community Police Service, Pokhara–1, Bagar, was held on Saturday.

Opening the annual general meeting, the chief guest, Information Officer of Gandaki Province Police Office, Pokhara, Senior Inspector of Police Tul Bahadur Karki, highlighted the excellent work carried out by community centers with minimal expenditure.

“Your role in controlling every criminal incident in society is unparalleled,” said Karki. “By making the police partnership program more effective, Nepal Police will move forward hand in hand with you.” He further mentioned that although the abuse of illicit drugs has significantly decreased recently, awareness programs still need to be implemented more effectively.

Sita Adhikari, Chairperson of Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality, mentioned that incidents of suicide have been increasing in the municipality and emphasized that coordination with the Community Service Center is being strengthened to reduce suicides as well as other criminal activities.

Sahara Pradhan, Ward Chairperson of Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 1, praised the activities carried out by the Community Service Center, Bagar, as exemplary. Sita Gurung, founding chairperson of the Community Service Center and Community Police Service, Bagar, stressed the need to be more active in controlling illicit drugs.

Ghanashyam Timsina, General Secretary of the Community Police Service District Coordination Committee, Kaski, stated that community members of Kaski have played a significant role in reducing societal deviations and anomalies.

Purushottam Shrestha, former chairperson and current advisor of the Community Service Center and Community Police Service, Bagar, noted that with the recent reduction in staff positions, it has become difficult to carry out activities aimed at strengthening the relationship between citizens and the police.

During the program, senior members and current advisors, Bishwomohan Gauchan, and Sarala Dhakal, Chief of the Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Cell at Kaski District Police Office, were honored with a traditional shawl and a certificate.

Likewise, lifetime member Baburam Bhandari, daughter of ordinary member Sita Bhandari Shushma Bhandari, son of ordinary member Bhanu Bhakta Adhikari, and daughter of lifetime member Prakashchandra Sapkota, Prabeena Sapkota, were honored with cash for achieving excellent marks.

Newly elected office bearers and members of the Community Service Center and Community Police Service, Prithvichowk, were also welcomed and congratulated.

During the event, Krishna Bahadur Tama, Secretary of the Community Service Center and Community Police Service, Bagar, presented the annual progress report, and Kamal Prasad Bastola, Treasurer, presented the financial progress report.

Speakers at the program included Kumari Muna Bastola, Chairperson of the Community Service Center and Community Police Service, Prithvichowk; Suresh Kumar Manandhar, Head of Kanya Campus, Nadipur; Bhanu Bhakta Adhikari, Chairperson of Indreni Integrated Development Center; and Rita Lamichhane, Chairperson of Siddhartha Mothers’ Group.

The program was chaired by Ram Prasad Adhikari, Chairperson of the Community Service Center and Community Police Service, Bagar. Former Chairperson Ram Bhushan Parajuli delivered the welcome address, and Secretary Krishna Bahadur Tama conducted the program.
