Shadananda Municipality Hosts Insurance Interaction Program
Bhojpur – An interaction and discussion program on insurance, organized by the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), Koshi Province, was successfully held in Shadananda Municipality, Bhojpur.
During the interaction, questions were raised on various topics, including subjects covered under third-party insurance, tax exemptions, calculation of life insurance bonuses, premiums and procedures for agricultural and crop insurance, the savings and investment aspects of life insurance, and the targets being set for employees (agents).
Shadananda Municipality’s Deputy Mayor, Pramila Rai, pointed out that while all citizens are familiar with insurance, the local government needs to take the initiative for its effective expansion.
She stressed the need for clear information regarding the terms, procedures, and benefits of insurance, called for strict regulation to prevent malpractices by employees and agents, and drew attention to the possibility of legal action against intermediaries involved in such activities.
Responding to the questions raised, NIA Chief Prati Dev urged participants to acquire insurance services only through licensed companies or authorized individuals.
She informed the attendees that it is mandatory to submit factual details of the incident when registering a claim, and that there is a provision to file insurance-related complaints online.
According to her, the government provides subsidies ranging from 50 to 80 percent on agricultural insurance.
She also requested patience, as claim settlements in non-life insurance may take some time due to the need for damage assessment.
The program was attended by Deputy Mayor Pramila Rai as the Chief Guest. Ward No. 3 Chairman Sang Demba Rai, Ward No. 9 Chairman Ngima Sherpa, Ward No. 8 Chairman Subash Tamang, presenter Sachin Rai, and program moderator Milan Pokharel were also present, along with a significant attendance from local stakeholders.
