Bhaireshwor Mahadev Temple in Chandragiri: A Symbol of Religious Faith
Chandragiri, Kathmandu — The Bhaireshwor Mahadev Temple, located on Chandragiri hill within Chandragiri Municipality, is an important religious and cultural site.
According to Hindu beliefs, while Lord Shiva was carrying the dead body of Goddess Sati around the earth, her forehead (referred to as "Bhal" in Nepali) is said to have fallen at this very place. This is why the temple is named Bhaireshwor Mahadev.
Along with its religious significance, the area is also a popular tourist destination easily accessible from the Kathmandu Valley via the Chandragiri cable car.
