Actor Dayahang Rai Signs New Film ‘Pensionpatta’ with Director Mao Tse Gurung

Kathmandu, Nepal — Acclaimed Nepali actor Dayahang Rai has officially signed on for director Mao Tse Gurung’supcoming film titled ‘Pensionpatta’, marking their second collaboration. The duo previously worked together on Gurung’s directorial debut film, ‘Dayarani’, where Dayahang played the lead role.

Director Gurung expressed his enthusiasm about reuniting with Rai, stating that this second partnership will be approached with even greater refinement, aiming to deliver a remarkable cinematic experience. Despite the title suggesting a story related to a retired Gurkha soldier, the film will actually explore the transformation of a greedy man into a generous one, according to Gurung.

The movie is set to go on floors in the third week of Kartik (late October/early November) and will be produced under the banner of Mao Tse Gurung Films. The story has been written by Gurung himself.

While the full cast is yet to be revealed, Production Manager DB Gurung confirmed that announcements will be made soon. The film’s shooting will take place entirely in and around Pokhara, in Nepal’s Kaski district.

Sushan Prajapati has been assigned as the cinematographer, and Suraj Tamu will serve as the casting director.

Mao Tse Gurung's debut film was a box office hit, and he has since established himself not only as a versatile actor but also as a talented director and writer. In addition to Nepali films, he has also directed films in the Gurung language, further showcasing his storytelling range.
