Yogesh Bhattarai Calls for Leadership Change and Party Reform
Kathmandu: CPN (UML) Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has stated that Nepal, its democracy, the constitution, and political parties are going through one of the most difficult times in history.
Sharing his views on Facebook, Bhattarai mentioned that serious review and patient political solutions are necessary to lead the country out of this crisis. He emphasized that the current situation should not be seen as just a minor political ups-and-down.
"At this moment, the nation, the people, democracy, the constitution, and even we as individuals are passing through a very tough period. To move in the right direction, serious reflection and patience are mandatory," he wrote.
Against this backdrop, Bhattarai explained that he and his colleagues have introduced a proposal for the multi-dimensional reorganization of the party and leadership handover in the 11th National Convention of the UML. He noted that this proposal has sparked a major debate among politicians, the media, intellectuals, and the general public.
"Our proposal has gained significant attention. This debate will continue in the days to come," he said.
He also urged party members not to be discouraged and asked them to play a responsible role in keeping the party united. "I request all comrades not to get distracted and to fulfill their roles in favor of party unity," Bhattarai added.
The Deputy General Secretary claimed that the issues they have raised are not just about internal power balance but are directly linked to the feelings and wishes of the people.
