Unnatural Merger Between NCP and JSP: Purna Basnet
Purna Basnet, Head of the Publicity Department of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, has stated that the merger between the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and the Janata Samajbadi Party would be unnatural.
While it is normal for an individual to change their thoughts and principles, he commented that the complete disappearance of an entire party’s line into completely different ideas and principles is an apolitical and self-surrendering policy.
Basnet said, “The public’s disenchantment with political parties has not just exploded through the recent Gen-Z movement. The leadership of political parties, which should be based on ideas, principles, and issues, has become weak and extremely opportunistic.”
Before uniting with the NCP, Basnet suggested that Rajendra Shrestha, Federal Council Chairman of JSP, should study the party’s manifesto prepared under their own leadership.
He also criticized JSP and its leadership, warning that chasing political gains and opportunities could make history punish them in due course.
