Prithvi Subba Gurung: Attacks on UML are Attacks on the Political System
Kathmandu. CPN (UML) Vice Chairman Prithvi Subba Gurung has stated that the Constitution of Nepal is being attacked by using the minor shortcomings of old political parties as a pretext.
Speaking at an interaction program organized by Press Chautari Nepal in Kathmandu on Tuesday, he said that the rumors suggesting old parties have become irrelevant are false, asserting that attacks on the constitution are being carried out under the guise of the parties' weaknesses.
Furthermore, he claimed that attacks on the UML are essentially attacks on Nepal's constitution and political system. He said, "The rumors being spread that old parties have become irrelevant are wrong. Using the minor shortcomings of old parties as an excuse and a medium, the Constitution of Nepal and the political system are being attacked."
Similarly, he mentioned that Nepal's sovereignty and independence are the most important issues at present, expressing confidence that patriotic Nepalis who stand for a sovereign and independent Nepal will support his party.
He stated, "Currently, Nepal's sovereignty is the most important matter. We exist only if Nepal exists; we are free only if Nepal is free. Therefore, because we stand for a sovereign and independent Nepal, I believe all patriotic Nepalis of this country will provide their support to our party."
Additionally, he remarked that although new faces are appearing in the Nepali Congress, they lack new policies and vision. He claimed that the UML is the only party with a concrete vision on how to move the country forward.
He said, "We have experience, maturity, concrete policies, programs, and the courage and determination to run the country. We are more visionary than other parties. Therefore, our party is the one with a solid vision for how to advance the nation. Regarding the Nepali Congress, there are new faces, but there are no new policies or visions."
