Following National Devastation, UML Started Provincial Anarchy: Purna Basnet

Kathmandu. Purna Basnet, Chief of the Publicity Department of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, has leveled a serious accusation against the CPN-UML, stating that after causing national devastation, the party has now initiated provincial-level anarchy.

Condemning the controversial action of the Provincial Chief who administered the oath of office to the Madhesh Province Chief Minister in a hotel in haste, Basnet asserted that the UML leadership is responsible for this deceptive act.

Basnet expressed outrage, claiming that the 'incompetence' of the then CPN-UML led government resulted in major 'devastation' in the country, causing 'irreparable loss of life and property,' yet the ruling party and its leadership failed to take moral responsibility. He further alleged that they are 'bent on criminalizing the movement.'

"Ultimately, even in the province, the UML exposed its true character," Basnet said. He believes that a decision on such a serious matter could not have been possible without the consent of the UML leadership.

Terming this attitude of the UML as 'undemocratic, and a serious attack on federalism and the republic,' JSP's Publicity Chief Basnet remarked, "It seems the UML is determined to perish rather than reform."

He strongly criticized the action of the Provincial Chief, who holds a constitutional position, for administering the oath to the Chief Minister in a hotel, calling it 'undignified and irresponsible.'
