UML Dhanukuta Recommends Rajendra Kumar Rai as Sole Candidate

Dhanukuta — The Communist Party of Nepal (UML), Dhanukuta, has recommended Central Committee member and former Minister of Water Supply, Rajendra Kumar Rai, as the sole candidate for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.

The extended meeting of the district committee held on Sunday decided to nominate Rai as the sole candidate based on the sentiments of party leaders and workers, local geography, and the aspirations of the youth, according to Chairman Shiva Limbu.

During the discussion, a proposal was made to recommend Rai as the sole candidate according to the feelings of leaders and workers from all municipalities in the district. After a detailed discussion on the matter, Rai was officially recommended as the sole candidate, Chairman Limbu said.

All committee members present at the meeting agreed that this election is not just an individual contest but a party-wide contest, and therefore, Rajendra Kumar Rai should be nominated as the sole candidate. Some aspiring leaders were convinced, leading to a unanimous decision.

Within UML, Central Committee member Shakuntala Basnet, Province Committee Vice-Chair Tikaram Chemjong, and other leaders had shown interest in the candidacy. 

After considering the opinions of all aspirants and suggestions from members, the meeting recommended former Minister Rai’s name as the sole candidate, Chairman Limbu said. Rai has previously been elected twice to the House of Representatives.
