Toshima Karki Opposes RSP's Proportional Representation List

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Toshima Karki has expressed her disagreement with the party's proportional representation (PR) candidate list through social media.

She argued that the PR system was originally designed to provide representation to capable individuals from remote geographical areas who lack access and power. In her post, she emphasized that the list should prioritize the poor and represent regions like Karnali and Sudurpaschim.

Karki questioned the integrity of the system, pointing out that party officials and secretariat members' relatives are securing top positions on the list.

She stated that the PR system should ensure inclusion rather than exclusion and challenged those in vital party positions to have the courage to contest direct elections. She argued that if top leaders are afraid to run in direct elections, it sets a poor example for others.

Demanding a complete end to nepotism and favoritism, Karki called on the party leadership to ensure transparency and justice in the selection process.

She concluded by suggesting that if the party truly wants to provide exemplary leadership, all officials and secretariat members should remove their names from the PR list and commit to fighting direct elections instead.
