The Story of the Flower at Sarvanam: The Play ‘Jaba Phoolle Aakaar Linchha...’

Kathmandu — The play ‘Jaba Phoolle Aakaar Linchha...’ has been staged at Sarvanam Theater located in Kalikasthan since the 12th of Shrawn. The play is presented by the 21st batch trainee group of Sarvanam, who also wrote and directed the play themselves. The cast includes Gayatri Joshi, Sumiksha Nyaupane, Ismita Bhusal, Anjali Koirala, Subhash Paudel, Rajan Moktan, Vijay Chapagain, Manoj Bohara, Pawan Thapa, and other talented actors.

The play ‘Jaba Phoolle Aakaar Linchha...’ is a journey that defines beauty, happiness, and society from the inner eye of the mind. It portrays the experiences of two parallel characters. On one side, the queen flower (Rani Phool) who wants to enjoy nature is being prepared to be offered at the temple, which sparks the voices of her rebellion. On the other side, a painter, rejected by his family and society and called ugly, begins to create beautiful paintings. The story revolves around the journey, struggles, and surroundings of these two characters.

The definition of life varies between society and individuals. The play ‘Jaba Phoolle Aakaar Linchha...’ explores the meaning that the painter and the queen flower, pushed by society and time to a breaking point, seek in their lives. It presents the story of the painter who looks for inner beauty rather than external appearances, and the queen flower who seeks happiness within herself.

Sarvanam, which prioritizes frugal color philosophy, has been regularly conducting theater training classes every year. Ashesh Malla, the pioneer of street theater and a renowned playwright, has long been providing theater training at Sarvanam based on the method of Dhyan Abhinaya (meditative acting).

The play ‘Jaba Phoolle Aakaar Linchha...’, prepared after a three-month acting training, is based on this principle. The play is performed every day except Thursdays at 5:15 PM, with an additional show on Saturdays at 1 PM, and will continue until the 18th of Shrawan.
