7-Point Agreement Reached Between Government and Deceased Mehta’s Family

Kathmandu: A seven-point agreement has been reached between the government and the family of Ravindra Kumar Mehta, who died in an incident on Shrawan 10 in Captanganj, Ward No. 3 of Dewan Ganj Rural Municipality, Sunsari.

According to the agreement signed today between Mehta’s guardians and Nepal’s Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, the process to declare Mehta a martyr will be initiated immediately.

The agreement specifies that an impartial and effective investigation into the incident that occurred on the night of Shrawan 10 in Kasanganj, Dewan Ganj-3, will be conducted, and necessary legal action against the culprits will proceed immediately. Similarly, an immediate investigation will begin regarding the legal status and related matters of the madrasa located in Dewan Ganj-3.

Under the agreement, the government will take the necessary initiatives to provide employment to an eligible family member of the deceased. It also states that the necessary processes will be initiated to implement the recommendations and suggestions of the report submitted by the probe committee formed to investigate the incident, in accordance with existing laws.

Furthermore, the Nepal Government has agreed to transport the body of the deceased to Dewan Ganj Rural Municipality-3, Sunsari, via a Nepal Army helicopter to perform the last rites.

An agreement was also reached to construct a memorial park in an appropriate area of the rural municipality within this fiscal year, with allocated budget in coordination with the local government, to honor the memory of the three individuals who lost their lives in the incident.
