'Tej' Brand Mustard Oil Recalled from Market After Failing Quality Tests
Kathmandu. The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has directed the recall of 'Tej' brand mustard oil from the market, labeling it as substandard.
According to a notice issued by the department, during market monitoring and inspection, samples were collected and tested, revealing that the 'Tej' brand mustard oil produced by Siddhartha Oil Industries was substandard.
The department stated that testing conducted in accordance with the Food Safety and Quality Act, 2081 B.S showed the oil did not meet the standards set by the Government of Nepal.
Consequently, a directive has been issued to immediately recall all products from the respective batch from the market. Additionally, the department has issued an order prohibiting the sale and distribution of the said oil.
The oil ordered to be recalled is of the 'Tej' brand, produced from imported mustard seeds. The product carries batch number 20, a production date of Falgun 28, 2082 BS, and a stated shelf life of 6 months. The department informed that the product was manufactured by Siddhartha Oil Industries, located in Gurbania, Rupandehi.
