UML Leader Surya Thapa Criticizes Congress’s Special Convention Approach
Kathmandu: Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba was sidelined in the party’s special convention, prompting criticism from CPN (UML) leader Surya Thapa. Commenting on Congress leaders’ actions, Thapa emphasized that the character of UML is not like that.
In a statement shared on social media, Thapa said, “CPN (UML) is by no means a party of unprincipled living sons who insult elderly fathers, push them into old-age homes, and seize their property.”
He highlighted the need for awareness regarding such political practices, using the phrase, “Be conscious!” Thapa’s remarks came amid rising demands for a special convention within the Congress, which have been linked to attempts to move forward while keeping Deuba aside.
His statement is seen as a clear message in support of UML’s internal unity, respect for leadership, and political decorum.
In his post, he reiterated: “CPN (UML) is not a party of unprincipled living sons who insult elderly fathers, push them into old-age homes, and seize their property. Be conscious!”
