Supreme Court Staff Walk Out Over Chief Justice Writ Order
Kathmandu. Chaos has erupted within the Supreme Court administration after Acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla ordered the registration of writ petitions filed against the recommendation of the Chief Justice.
Immediately after the Acting Chief Justice issued the order to register all petitions by 1:00 PM today and schedule them for tomorrow's hearing, top officials of the Supreme Court left their offices.
The controversy came to light after the Supreme Court administration refused to register the writ petitions filed against the recommendation of Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, who is fourth in seniority, for the position of Chief Justice.
The order, which determined that the court administration had obstructed the path of justice, mentions that the Chief Registrar admitted the petitions were withheld under the direct instruction of the proposed Chief Justice candidate himself.
Uncertainty has grown within the Supreme Court after the employees left their offices, while legal practitioners are preparing to stage protests against this action.
