Sobita Gautam's Remarks in Parliament

Kathmandu. Law Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party MP Sobita Gautam has stated that this session of Parliament must rise above the boundaries of the ruling and opposition parties. Speaking on Sunday at a meeting of the House of Representatives as a supporter of Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal, she expressed her view that it is necessary to make Parliament more mature through a blend of newly elected members bringing fresh energy and senior members with long-standing parliamentary experience.

She said, "This session of Parliament must rise above the boundaries of the majority and the opposition. This Parliament must focus on the people's issues. It must become solution-oriented and clearly result-driven. There is a presence of both new MPs with fresh energy and seniors with extensive parliamentary experience. Together, we must work toward making this Parliament more mature."

Furthermore, she mentioned that if debate remains limited only to debate itself, public trust will weaken, emphasizing the need for healthy discussion in Parliament. "Democracy is not brought about by speeches and debates alone. The results brought by our debates also send a message about whether they are meaningful or not. Therefore, healthy debate is necessary. However, if the debate is limited only to talk, the people's trust will erode. That is why this time, the debate must be meaningful, responsible, and result-oriented," she said.
