Sherdhan Rai to Contest for Secretary Post in UML Convention

Kathmandu – Sherdhan Rai, a Standing Committee member of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), has announced that he is preparing to contest for the post of Secretary in the upcoming 11th General Convention.

Rai, who has consistently supported the leadership of Chairman KP Sharma Oli, stated that the atmosphere within the party this time is conducive for him to be viewed as an office bearer. 

Speaking to journalists, he mentioned that based on his experience of gradually progressing through the party's ranks to various positions, the post of Secretary is a natural claim for him.

According to Rai, he had also sought an office-bearer position during the 10th General Convention, but ultimately had to remain in the Standing Committee due to a consensus. 

Rai asserted that he is a leader who has stood firm during every challenge and crisis faced by the party, stating, “I am a person who has not strayed from the party. I have built an image of never having lost my way at any juncture till today.”
