UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel Links Balen Shah-RSP Agreement to a 'Conspiracy'

Kathmandu: Following an agreement between Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah and the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has claimed that the "planners of destructive activities" are now being revealed.

Writing on Facebook, Pokharel stated that patriotic forces who support the constitution and democracy must stay alert and united during this serious time.

He wrote: "The peaceful protest by youth on September 8 was intentionally turned into a clash, leading to the deaths of some young people. Using that as an excuse, attacks were launched on September 9 against the state and the foundations of democracy to weaken the country. The planners and operators of these destructive activities are now slowly coming to light."

He further added, "The events of September 8 and 9 were the first phase of a conspiracy to turn Nepal into an unstable country like Ukraine by making it a pawn in a geopolitical conflict. Now, the second phase of that conspiracy is beginning."

Pokharel also urged everyone to play a responsible and active role to prevent the nation from becoming a tool in international power struggles.
