Serious Conspiracy May Emerge to Undermine UML Leadership: Mahesh Basnet

Senior leader of the Nepal Communist Party (UML), Mahesh Basnet, has warned that certain social media campaigns could be a serious conspiracy aimed at pushing the party leadership aside for personal gain.
He wrote on Facebook, “This is not about disrespecting Comrade Yogesh’s leadership, but about honoring the leadership and structurally reorganizing the party.
However, it cannot be ruled out that some friends have started a social media campaign to push the leadership aside and make themselves leaders during a crisis.”
Basnet emphasized that the world has changed, foreign interference has increased, the country is in turmoil, and even UML party offices and leaders’ homes have been destroyed by fire.
Therefore, he stressed that the party must take more prudent steps than anticipated to stand strong again despite irreparable losses and challenges.
Highlighting the role of youth, protest voices, and digital communication, Basnet said that by listening to both leaders and activists, and integrating the sentiments of the digital generation, a new, capable, and contemporary UML can be built under the guidance of KP Sharma Oli.
According to him, the current time calls not for division but for cooperation, understanding, and unity.
