Security Alert in Iran: US Citizens Advised to Leave the Country

The US Virtual Embassy in Iran has issued a security alert for US citizens. According to the notice, road closures, public transportation disruptions, and internet outages are ongoing in Iran. The notice states, "The Iranian government has imposed restrictions on mobile phones, landlines, and the national internet network.

Airlines are limiting or canceling flights to and from Iran." The US Virtual Embassy has advised its citizens in Iran to adopt alternative means of communication and, if it is safe, to exit Iran via Armenia or Turkey.

Meanwhile, Iran and the US are scheduled to hold talks in Oman today. According to the BBC, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has already arrived in Oman for this purpose. He will hold talks with US envoys today in the Omani capital, Muscat.

US President Donald Trump has been threatening military action if Iran does not enter into a new agreement to limit its nuclear program. Iran has expressed a willingness to discuss the nuclear issue but maintains its stance that there will be no compromise on demands such as limiting its missile program.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Trump is monitoring the talks with Iranian officials to see if an agreement can be reached.
