Ministry of Communication Implements "Same-Day File Settlement" Rule

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has implemented a new code of conduct with the aim of making government operations more efficient and results-oriented. This regulation, issued for employees working in the Ministry and all offices under its jurisdiction, is expected to discourage delays in service delivery.

Moving forward, any file or work assignment must be settled on the same day it is received in an employee's office or online system; time until the following day will be available only in special circumstances.

Joint Secretary Subas Chandra Shiwakoti expressed confidence that this step will make employees more responsible and active toward their official duties. A provision has also been included stating that if work cannot be completed within the specified time due to technical or practical reasons, the concerned employee must immediately provide a clear explanation to their superior.

To fully implement this process, office heads have been instructed to have subordinate employees sign letters of commitment and to ensure the maximum and economical use of resources.
