RSP Spokesperson Condemns Madhesh Province Chief's 'Despicable' Action on CM Oath

Kathmandu. Manish Jha, spokesperson for the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has stated that Madhesh Province Chief Sumitra Subedi has taken a step that will 'destroy the dignity of the country, the constitution, and the province.'

On Monday, via a post on the social networking site Facebook, he said that such an act cannot have political acceptance, labeling it as 'despicable.'

Serious questions have been raised regarding the swearing-in process of the newly appointed Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Saroj Kumar Yadav.

Although Province Chief Sumitra Subedi appointed Yadav, the leader of the CPN (UML) Madhesh Provincial Assembly Party, as Chief Minister in accordance with Article 168, Clause 3 of the Constitution, the manner of the oath-taking ceremony has drawn sharp criticism in political circles.

He stated, "Madhesh Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari, who left Janakpur late at night saying she had health issues and was going to Kathmandu for treatment, administered the oath of office to a UML provincial assembly member as the new Chief Minister in a hotel on the border of Sindhuli and Mahottari.

By doing so, she has destroyed the dignity of the country, the constitution, and the province. This despicable act cannot have political acceptance. We protest it."
