RSP Claims Victory in at least 19 of Koshi’s 28 Seats
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has claimed that it will win at least 19 out of the 28 House of Representatives constituencies in Koshi Province. Party leadership appeared increasingly confident following significant public participation at the province-level "Declaration of Change Rally" held in Itahari on Tuesday.
The rally, held at the program venue in Itahari, Sunsari, was addressed by Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, senior leader Balendra Shah, and various representatives and candidates from different regions of Koshi Province. Leaders reiterated their commitment to establishing a "new political culture" by controlling corruption, ensuring good governance, and ending old political practices.
Chairman Lamichhane expressed his commitment to investigating all major scandals that have occurred since 2046 B.S and stated that prioritizing the return of savings to cooperative victims is a top goal. He sought public support for the agenda of change, stating, "The country cannot move forward without maintaining accountability and transparency in politics."
Similarly, leader Shah claimed that RSP is the force capable of transforming the country, noting the growing public disillusionment with traditional political parties. He emphasized the need for a political force that addresses the hopes and expectations of the youth generation.
The party rank and file appeared encouraged by the substantial presence of participants at the event. A woman met at the rally site said, "The bell has already rung across Koshi Province; the time for change has come." Referring to the RSP's election symbol, the "Bell," she claimed a wave of change is visible in the province.
In a brief conversation with Nepal News Bank after the conclusion of the program, Lal Bikram Thapa, the General Secretary of RSP Koshi Province and candidate for Sunsari Constituency No. 2, stated that public participation exceeded expectations.
"The public's enthusiasm has made us more responsible," he said. "Our internal assessment shows that we are in a position to win in at least 19 of the 28 electoral constituencies in Koshi."
