RPP Leader Gyanendra Shahi Appeals to Farmers Not to Harvest Apples Before September
Jumla, July 30 — Gyanendra Shahi, leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Member of Parliament, has urged farmers in Jumla not to harvest apples before September. In a public appeal made Wednesday on his Facebook page, he highlighted that the practice of picking immature apples early is seriously affecting the quality and reputation of Jumla’s apples.
Shahi noted that Jumla’s apples are famous not only across Nepal but also in international markets for their unique taste and high quality. However, in recent years, the trend of harvesting apples prematurely has caused a decline in their flavor, nutritional value, shelf life, and market price. This trend is also damaging consumer trust and the brand image of Jumla apples.
He emphasized that a few more days of patience allow the apples to ripen fully, which helps farmers secure better prices. Shahi appealed to all farmers to wait until after mid-September before harvesting the apples, to preserve the proud tradition and reputation of Jumla’s apple cultivation.
Through his appeal, Shahi called for cooperation, patience, and understanding from the farmers to stand united in producing quality apples.
