Second Phase of Ring Road Expansion Agreement Signed
Kathmandu. The aid agreement for the second phase of the Ring Road expansion was formally concluded on Wednesday. The agreement was signed by the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Sunil Lamsal, and the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Zhang Maoming.
According to the agreement, 8.2 kilometers of roads and bridges from Kalanki to Basundhara will be constructed in the second phase. The Chinese government will provide a grant of approximately 11 billion rupees for this project.
Previously, under the first phase, the road expansion from Koteshwor to Kalanki began in 2019 and has already been completed.
After the agreement, Minister Lamsal expressed his commitment to resolving any problems encountered during project implementation within a single day and providing the necessary facilitation. He mentioned that the development of the north-south road network is a government priority and also expressed expectations for further Chinese investment in the infrastructure sector.
Similarly, Ambassador Maoming stated that Chinese investors are interested in investing in Nepal if a suitable investment environment is created.
