Resignation of Khem Kumari Bhurtel from Rastriya Swatantra Party

Khem Kumari Bhurtel, a founding member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and a direct candidate in the last general election, has resigned from the party, including her ordinary membership. She announced her resignation expressing dissatisfaction with the party's working style.

In her resignation letter, she wrote, "I am a founding member of RSP and was the only female candidate from Madhesh Province among the 11 female direct candidates in 2079. To this day, I have continuously contributed to the party with a selfless spirit, dedicating my qualifications, capacity, expertise, and time.

However, the party has moved contrary to its rules and regulations, becoming engrossed in sycophancy and commercialism, while keeping capable women and youth limited only to slogans. I have experienced that places where responsibility should be given are ignored, corruption has increased within the party, and the methods, decisions, and working styles adopted by the party regarding the upcoming March 5 election are exactly opposite to the founding values, party constitution, and public commitments of RSP."

Bhurtel further stated, "A situation has arisen where my self-respect and political values are being compromised due to the lack of proper evaluation of the contributions of capable 'Bell' friends who worked day and night in the organization, activities being carried out against the rules and regulations, party principles not being implemented in practice, and party decisions being primarily inspired by financial irregularities.

The party rank and file and the general citizens are well aware of the contributions I made to build the party when it was in crisis. I am unable to remain silent as a witness to all these activities because I cannot be accountable to the citizens while remaining in the Rastriya Swatantra Party."
