CPN-UML Demands Immediate Release of KP Sharma Oli and Ramesh Lekhak
Kathmandu: In a meeting of the House of Representatives held on Monday, attention was drawn to the social media violence directed at Amisha Parajuli regarding her expressions during a protest against the arrest of CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. Speaking at the meeting, UML lawmaker Bishnumaya BK highlighted that Parajuli had been attacked on social media simply for participating in the protest and slogans.
Furthermore, she expressed the view that all women lawmakers should stand united and raise their voices against violence against women, regardless of their party affiliation.
She said, "Amisha was attacked through social media just because she chanted slogans during the protest organized by UML against the arrest of Chairman KP Sharma Oli. We have been fighting for women's rights for a long time. I urge women honorable members to set aside party lines and speak with one voice on the issue of violence against women."
She also stated that social media is even determining who should be made Prime Minister or Minister, and demanded that social media be regulated immediately. Additionally, she urged for the immediate release of Chairman Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak for further investigation.
