Rebel Candidacies Filed in Sindhuli-2 for Upcoming Elections

Ramechhap. During the nomination filing process for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5, rebel candidacies have been registered within the two major parties, the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and the Nepali Congress, in Sindhuli-2.

Maheshwar Dahal, a leader and journalist from the same party, has filed a rebel candidacy against the NCP's official candidate, Lekhnath Dahal 'Rajan'. Dahal registered his nomination with the support of party leaders including Haribol Gajurel, Basanta Majhi, and Paniraj Bamjan.

Dissatisfaction has emerged at the district level, with claims that party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' selected a candidate who was not even recommended by the district party committee. The candidate selection task force had also sent a letter to the party center suggesting a reconsideration of the decision.

Similarly, a rebel candidacy has also been filed against the official candidate in the other major party, the Nepali Congress. Congress leader Khadga Waiba registered his candidacy independently after being denied a ticket by the party. The Nepali Congress has named Sushila Thing as its official candidate for Sindhuli-2.

In the previous election, Lekhnath Dahal 'Rajan' of the Maoist Center was victorious in this constituency. In Sindhuli, which consists of two constituencies, a main competition is expected this time between candidates from the CPN-UML, the Nepali Congress, and the Nepali Communist Party.

The CPN-UML has fielded Pradeep Kumar Katuwal from Constituency No. 1 and Manoj Jung Thapa from Constituency No. 2. The Nepali Congress has nominated Ujwal Baral from Constituency No. 1 and Sushila Thing from Constituency No. 2. Likewise, the Nepal Communist Party has fielded Dekendra Subedi in Constituency No. 1 and Lekhnath Dahal in Constituency No. 2.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party has fielded Dhanendra Karki in Constituency No. 1 and Ashish Gajurel in Constituency No. 2, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has nominated Ram Narayan Adhikari in Constituency No. 1 and Dr. Mukunda Gajurel in Constituency No. 2.
