Reasons for Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal's Withdrawal of Support from the Government

The meeting of the Parliamentary Party of Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal was held today, on 32nd Asar 2082, at the Parliamentary Party Office, Singha Durbar. The meeting reviewed the current government’s actions and made the following decisions:

The current government has:

1. Failed to ensure good governance for the people.

2. Failed to control corruption, irregularities, impunity, the commission system, and the influence of middlemen.

3. Failed to improve the national economy and drive economic development, and presented the budget for fiscal year 2082/83 in an imbalanced and biased manner.

4. Made no concrete efforts to implement federalism.

5. Failed to address issues like poverty and unemployment by developing agriculture, industry, tourism, and water resources.

6. Failed to bring qualitative improvements in services such as clean drinking water, education, and health to effectively serve the public.

7. Failed to resolve national issues of oppressed communities such as Madhesi, indigenous nationalities, Dalits, women, backward classes, Tharu, and minorities, and build a just society based on equality.

8. Failed to release political prisoners who were imprisoned with false charges during movements such as Madhes, Tharuhat, Kirat–Limbuwan, etc.

9. Made no efforts to amend the constitution.

10. Failed to provide farmers with access to agricultural markets, irrigation, fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and concessional agricultural loans to promote agricultural development.

11. Failed to create employment opportunities to address the problem of unemployment.

For these reasons, the party concluded that continuing support to the current government led by KP Sharma Oli, which has already proven to be a failure, is no longer justifiable or meaningful. Therefore, it has decided to withdraw its support and henceforth remain in the opposition.
