Brindaban Municipality Demolishes Houses Built on Encroached Land
Rautahat: Brindaban Municipality in Rautahat demolished two houses built by encroaching on its land on Friday. The structures were removed and the land cleared with the assistance of the police administration after the construction of the municipality's under-construction modern administrative building was obstructed.
According to the municipality, local residents Sainul Nat and Ram Binay Thakur had been occupying two kattha of municipal land for years. The municipality has put forward a plan to construct a modern, well-equipped administrative building at that location at a cost of 64,655,555 rupees. CP Yati Alam JV has been awarded the construction contract.
After the occupants ignored repeated notices issued by the municipality, a discussion was held between people's representatives, employees, and locals on chait 1. Although an agreement was reached during that discussion to vacate the houses by chait 10, they went against the agreement and filed a case at the Gaur District Court on chait 18. While the court initially issued an injunction, it dismissed the petitioners' case on chait 25, clearing the legal path for the municipality.
With the clearing of the two kattha of encroached land, the municipality now has a total of eight kattha of land available for the building construction. According to Sikendra Patel, Chairman of Ward No. 2, the construction work had been affected for a long time due to land scarcity and encroachment. City Mayor Binod Patel stated that after repeated requests and agreements were ignored, they were forced to remove the structures by following legal procedures to move forward with the development work. The municipality has stated that the construction of the administrative building will now proceed at a rapid pace.
