Rastriya Swatantra Party Demands Immediate Reversal of Social Media Ban
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), through a statement issued by Sumana Shrestha, has urged the government to immediately revoke its decision to shut down social media.
The statement said, “In today’s digital era, social media is not only for entertainment or personal use but has become a key medium for citizens’ fundamental rights, freedom of expression, business, education, research, and information exchange. Shutting it down all at once is a direct attack on the rights of the people.”
The RSP emphasized that Article 17 of the Constitution guarantees freedom of thought and expression, while Article 19 ensures the right to information and communication as fundamental rights.
The party strongly protested the government’s approach, which it views as an infringement on constitutional rights.
